Flashing via ADB Sideload is another way of updating zenfone series devices to latest firmware. You can also update your zenfone to latest firmware by manual update method. For manual update method, you can find the tutorial here. Flashing via ADB Sideload avoids bootloops while updating, which occurs frequently in zenfone 6.
Things you'll need:
1. Intel Android USB Drivers. Get them HERE.
2. ADB Fastboot Tool. Download from HERE.
3. Finally, download the required update firmware package from Asus Official support page or Zenfone-blog firmware page.
How To Flash Update Package via ADB Sideload :
1. Install the Intel USB Drivers which you have downloaded before.
2. Turn on USB Debugging in developer options. Tutorial HERE.
2. Extract the ADB fastboot tool and place the update package in the same extracted folder.
3. Connect your zenfone to pc.
4. Open ADB folder, hold shift + right click and choose "open command window here".
5. In command window enter the following commands one by one.
adb devices (To check whether the phone is successfully connected to pc)
adb sideload update-package-name.zip (enter the update package name exactly including case with .zip extension)
6. Wait for the update process to complete.
This process can be used for both upgrade and downgrade process. Note that this process removes ROOT and CUSTOM recovery from your phone.
