Things you'll need to root zenfone 4.5 Lollipop:
1. Intel USB Drivers. Download it HERE.
2. updateCWM_6.0.2.8_fix_wipe.zip. Download it HERE.
3. ADB Fastboot Tool. Download it HERE.
4. SuperSU-autoroot.zip. Download it HERE.
How to Root Zenfone 4.5 Lollipop:
1. Download the above given required tools.
2. Install the Intel USB Drivers on your pc.
3. Copy the SuperSU-autoroot.zip to the internal memory of your zenfone 4.5 (Don't place it in any folder).
4. Extract the ADB Fastboot Tool and place the CWM file in the extracted ADB folder.
5. Now connect your phone to pc. Make sure USB Debugging is turned on in developer options. You can find the tutorial HERE.
6. Now go to ADB folder, hold shift + right click and choose "Open command window here."
7. Now a command window appears, type the following commands one by one,
adb devices (To check whether your device is successfully connected to pc)
fastboot flash update updateCWM_6.0.2.8_fix_wipe.zip (press enter)
8. Now the device reboots into CWM (clockwordmod recovery). Once you are in CWM recovery navigate the options using volume keys.
9. In the CWM recovery, select the second options that says "apply update from sdcard". (press power button to select)
10. Now you'll be shown the list of files present in the internal memory, from that list, choose SuperSU-autoroot.zip
11. Now again select yes. Now your phone will be rooted.
12. Now go back to main menu and reboot your phone. That's it!
How to Unroot Zenfone 4.5 Lollipop:
1. Go to SuperSu app.
2. Go to settings menu.
3. Select Full Unroot.
4. Done!
